« U Project », Qu’est ce que c’est ?

Vous n’êtes plus sans ignorer notre goût pour les séries animées des années 80. Il y a quelques temps déjà nous est venu l’envie de proposer aux fans d’Ulysse 31, un teaser annonçant la sortie d’une éventuelle suite à cette série culte.
Nous vous proposerons régulièrement certaines images de notre avancé sur ce projet. Voici pour commencer quelques recherches graphiques sur le personnage principal de ce teaser, qui n’est autre que Télémaque.

« U Project », what’s that?

You can’t ignore our love for the animated series of the 80s any more. Some time ago came to us the desire to offer to the Ulysses 31 fans, a teaser announcing the coming of a possible sequel of this cult series.
We will offer you some pictures of our progress on this project on a regular basis. For starters, below is some concept art on the main character of this teaser, none other than Telemachus.

Ulysse tardant à rentrer, Télémaque décide de partir à sa recherche afin de sauver sa mère Pénélope des prétendants qui la harcèlent, les empêchant ainsi de s’emparer du trône d’Ithaque … Voilà l’idée principale sur laquelle nous nous sommes basés pour développer ce fan teaser.
Son voyage le mènera jusque sur une étrange planète …

And the story in all this?

Ulysses taking a long time to return, Telemachus decides to go look for him to save his mother Penelope from the suitors who are harassing her, and doing so preventing them from seizing the throne of Ithaca… This is the main idea on which we based the development of this fan teaser.
His journey will lead him to a strange planet…

Un fan teaser en 3D.

Parce que cela représente une grande partie de notre domaine de compétence (et puis parce que l’on adore ça !!) nous avons décidé de réaliser ce fan teaser en 3D. C’était également une manière d’aborder une série animée d’il y a 30 ans avec une technique d’aujourd’hui.
La modélisation de Télémaque a bien avancé et les recherches de couleurs continuent, mais voyez plutôt.

A fan teaser in CG.

Because it’s a big part of our field of expertise (and because we love it!!) we decided to realize this fan teaser in CGI. It was also a way to approach a series from 30 years ago with today’s techniques.
The modeling of Telemachus has well progressed and the color study continues, just take a look.

Nous sommes conscient que cela ne plaira pas à tous les fans inconditionnels de la série mais nous espérons satisfaire la majorité d’entre vous. N’oublions pas non plus que pour ce fan teaser nous bénéficions d’un budget égale à 0€, et que la totalité des graphistes travaillant sur celui-ci le font par plaisir, passion et sur leur temps libre … Un vrai truc de fan !

We realize this won’t appeal to every hardcore fans of the series but we hope to please most of you. Let’s not forget either that for this fan teaser we benefit from a budget equal to 0€, and that the totality of the graphic designers working on it did it by love, passion and on their spare time… Really a fan’s thing!

Une étrange planète…

…errant dans l’inconnu, les systèmes de communication du vaisseau détectent un signal de détresse à quelques parsecs de leur position. Télémaque décide d’aller vérifier l’origine de ce signal et après un saut dans l’hyper espace, celui-ci arrive près d’une planète non répertoriée. Attiré un par un flux d’énergie inconnu, il sera contraint d’atterrir sur celle-ci. À la descente de son vaisseau, Télémaque…

A strange planet…

… wandering in the unknown, the communication systems of the spaceship detect a distress signal a few parsecs away from of their position. Telemachus decides to go and check the origin of this signal and after a hyperspace jump, he arrives near an unregistered planet. Grabbed by an unknown energy beam, he will be forced to land on this planet. Stepping out of his spaceship, Telemachus…

Voici le résultat des modélisations faites à partir des recherches graphiques ci-dessus. Elles constitueront les éléments principaux à la mise en place d’un des décors du teaser.

Here is the result of modelings made from the concepts above. They will be the main elements in the creation of one of the backgrounds of the teaser.

Orbos

L’Orbos que nous imaginons, fait ici partie intégrante de la flotte militaire d’Ithaque. Il est le vaisseau de combat que tous les bâtiments d’exploration spatial dignes de ce nom possèdent. Il devient la partie centrale de l’IMS (Itaque Military Spaceship) destiné aux missions plus complexes nécessitant un arsenal polyvalent.

Orbos

The Orbos we are thinking about, is here an integral part of Ithaca’s military fleet. It is the spacefighter all worthy space exploration ships have aboard. It becomes the central part of the IMS (Ithaca Military Spaceship) intended for the more complex missions requiring a multipurpose gear.
